What we collect
Unison processes the display name you choose, room activity, queued video information, chat messages, and technical connection data needed to synchronize playback. While a WebSocket is active, authorized service administrators can see its IP address, country, Cloudflare data center, and user agent for abuse response; this connection metadata is not retained after the socket closes. Room state is temporary and is used to operate the service.
Browser storage
We use local browser storage to remember your display name, language, theme, volume, mute preference, host token, and interface settings. This information stays in your browser unless you clear it.
Analytics and third-party services
With your optional consent, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage. Analytics does not load until you accept; advertising storage and personalization remain disabled. Videos and search results are provided by YouTube, which may receive technical information under its own privacy policy. Our infrastructure is provided by Cloudflare.
Room links
Rooms are unlisted and accessed through their link. Anyone with a room link may join unless the host adds a password. Do not put sensitive personal information in room names, display names, or chat messages.
Retention and security
Room data is automatically removed after the room has remained empty for 30 minutes. We keep only the operational data reasonably required to provide and protect the service. No internet transmission is completely secure, but we use technical measures to limit access and exposure.
Your choices
You can leave a room at any time, reject optional analytics, and clear Unison’s local data through your browser settings. For privacy questions or deletion requests, email privacy@unison.video.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date above will reflect the latest revision.
